I've been the woman getting sized up.
I grew up poor. I got pregnant in high school. And I still became the youngest woman leading the room — prepared, put-together, ready. None of what I'd overcome was hidden in there. It was woven into the confidence I stood in.
I was standing there as proof — for myself, and for every woman who gets sized up before she opens her mouth. That's the woman I help now: the one who has done more than she's ever been credited for, and is ready to be seen for it.
